Plant Pests

We use an ecosystem approach to managing plant pests sustainably and with minimal environmental impact.

Plant & Food Research has extensive expertise in the biology, life cycle, behaviour and ecology of insects and mites. By understanding plant-pest interactions as well as the behaviour of complete ecosystems, we develop new methods of monitoring and managing plant pests that have minimal environmental, biodiversity and social impacts:

• Importation and release of new natural enemies
• Insect rearing
• Measuring the impact of natural enemies
• Biodiversity conservation and improvement
• Semiochemical identification, synthesis, formulation and development.
