Our Annual Crops Group aims to breed new cultivars, with most of our activity focused on forage, grain and vegetable crops. We use plant genetics to identify parents and progeny within our extensive breeding and germplasm collections to accelerate breeding programmes and develop cultivars with commercial potential. The Group’s expertise is applied across a broad range of magnitudes, from cultivar performance at a whole crop level through to understanding key characteristics at the molecule or gene level.
The Annual Crops Group is based at six sites – Lincoln, Auckland, Palmerston North, Pukekohe, Ruakura and Kerikeri.
