Our bioinformatics capability allows our researchers to analyse genomics, proteomics and metabolomics data efficiently.
Through our genomics research, Plant & Food Research scientists are generating large amounts of data. Our bioinformatics capabilities provide our researchers with in-house expertise to analyse data and extract information in a fit-for-purpose format, such as:
- Whole genome sequence analysis and annotation including genome assembly, genome resequencing, transcript sequencing, assembly and analysis.
- Computation gene prediction and validation with expressed sequence tag (EST) data
- Mapping of genome sequences to linkage groups
- Phylogenetic analysis
- Gene, marker and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) identification
- Database development
- Oligonucleotide design.
Our bioinformatics team are involved with several genome sequencing projects of plants, insects and pathogens, such as bacteria and fungi, including international genome sequencing consortia for apple, strawberry and potato.
