Food, Nutrition & Health Group

The Food, Nutrition & Health Group utilises a multi-disciplinary approach to understand digestion, absorption and fermentation of different foods as they pass through the gastrointestinal tract, and the downstream beneficial physiological effects of foods and their metabolites on human health and wellness. This covers research into gut health, glycaemic response, nutrient bio-availability, interaction of food with gut microbiome and mucosal immune system, weight management and energy usage, and macro- and micro-nutrient interactions.

The Group is based primarily at the Palmerston North site, with key expertise maintained at Auckland and Lincoln.
