Premium Crops & Technologies

Our Premium Crops & Technologies Group focuses on the breeding and development of grapes, berryfruit (black currant, raspberry, boysenberry, blueberry) and hops. Based on industry requirements, the Group identifies a range of traits with commercial potential from our extensive germplasm collections and uses genomics and genetics information to select the best parents and offspring for cultivar development. We also investigate the use of new and emerging plant biotechnology techniques, such as hybridisation, as methods for developing new commercial cultivars.

The Premium Crops Group is mainly based at 2 sites – Motueka and Lincoln.
