Pretty in Blue

Magnified 100x, tell-tale blue dye within plant cells provides a visual guide for scientists exploring the world of gene function. After the introduction of the GUS reporter to a gene promoter, cells where the gene is expressed turn blue indicating where that gene is actively influencing plant biology.

Our scientists are identifying genes that control key crop characteristics of benefit to consumers, producers and the environment.
