FAR Researcher of the Year

Agronomist Shane Maley from Plant & Food Research has been named this year's Researcher of the Year by the Foundation for Arable Research.

Mr Maley leads a team delivering crop field trials across the Canterbury and Southland regions. His research supports industry with insights into forage and cereal crop agronomy, such as crop establishment, nutrition and irrigation. He is an integral member of several pan-organisation research programmes, including Forages for Reduced Nitrate Leaching (FRNL), led by Dairy NZ, and the Ministry for Primary Industries' Sustainable Farming Fund programme Agronomic Solutions for Fodder Beet.
