Mealybugs as a transmitter of disease

Mealybugs, a group of insects in the family Pseudococcidae, can feed on infected vines and transmit the grapevine leafroll virus to uninfected plants. Monitoring and controlling mealybugs is one of few measures growers can take to combat the spread of grapevine leafroll disease.
